The role of the Bodyguard is often misunderstood, by both those seeking to employ them and those seeking a career as a bodyguard. In truth Hollywood has created a distinct image of the bodyguard that somehow evokes images of men in suits with ear pieces talking into their sleeves and wearing sunglasses. Moreover, they often portray such individuals almost as henchmen who hand out beatings or dispatch would be offenders with ease whilst the principal (the term used for you the client) is able to watch the carnage evolve without fear. Obviously as you might imagine the actual skills and requirements of a bodyguard or Executive Protection operative are much different to this.

Whilst it is essential that a bodyguard knows how to defend themselves and the principal, the real job of a Close Personal Protection Operative is to extract the principal from hostile or potentially hostile situations. The best way to do that then is to have heightened senses of awareness, and an ability to foresee risks before they occur and mitigate those risks intelligently so the principal can go about their business with minimal disruption. We believe this to be the essence of the role of a bodyguard or Close Personal Protection Operative, so much so that should a violent situation occur whilst our team are in operation we undertake a detailed review of the incident so we can see what failings led to such an incident and where we can learn from this. In addition the mere presence of an Executive Protection operative will always act as a deterrent to those who seek to do harm.

Clients that come to Strongs Security Services looking for a bodyguard in Sydney often come with a preconceived idea of how many bodyguards they need. The truth is the risk determines the number of operatives required. At times a single bodyguard is required. At times multiple CPP operatives are required. A low-risk individual that is not well known will likely only need one individual. But the same individual attending a specific event that they are publicised as attending may need a team of bodyguards. The team might include a Personal Protection Operative (PPO), a Driver, an advance operative who travels the route and arrives at the event before the client and a site officer that manages the arrival and movement through the event. Yet this is still a small detail and higher risk clients may require greater numbers of operatives to mitigate the level of risk deemed to exists at that time.

The rates for a Bodyguard are determined by the level of risk and complexity that exist for you as the client as well as what level of operative that you want. As the saying goes if you pay peanuts you get monkeys. However, depending on the above and the professionalism and experience of the bodyguard you need or want this price can start from $85 per hour per operative. However, if you are looking for Tier 1 trained CPP operatives with Military & Police Experience then you are likely going to need to pay $120 per hour or more. This rate is determined by the fact that there are so few of these operatives and their skill set is highly sought after. How do we do this? We do this through our recruitment and selection process as well as our ongoing evaluation and physical testing. Some of this includes;

Like any other service-based role our Sydney bodyguards (and in fact all our Australian Bodyguards) work the hours you want us to when you want us to. There is no specific requirement to have a body guard 24 hours a day 7 days a week. As always, we recommend using a Close Personal Protection operative as often as your current threat level dictates. As such that may mean you only use a single operative or a driver for the occasional or one-off public outing or it may mean you have a full protection detail around the clock moving with you and every member of your family maintaining a heavy presence at the office and your home. Our job is to ensure your safety and your privacy, but we also like to ensure we provide you good value. As such we will never recommend to you a level of security that exceeds your needs only for the benefit of our profits.

It should be noted though that there are certain limitations on the deployment of a body-guard or a Security Driver. For example, each operative works for a minimum of 4 hours and each deployment to assist you requires planning which may create additional costs. At the other end of the scale however we have operatives that are happy to travel overseas with you and will endure the hours of travel and be with you from the time you leave your accommodation until the time you return.

Further each new client requires a basic intelligence package assembled for the CPP operative which includes a review of the risk as well as the agenda and details of what activities will be undertaken on the deployment. As such on the first occasion that we work with you there will likely be some initial costings involved in establishing the relationship, but once established these should become relatively limited.
